Under the direction of Mrs. Marissa Bednarek, DMA Art Instruction for our students cultivates creativity, self-expression, and an appreciation for the visual arts. Students will explore a variety of artistic techniques and media, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art, while developing their skills in each area. The course will also introduce key concepts in art history, helping students understand different art movements, famous artists, and cultural contexts.
Through hands-on projects, students will learn to express their ideas and emotions visually, while gaining confidence in their artistic abilities. Additionally, the course will encourage critical thinking by having students analyze and reflect on their own work and the work of others. By the end of the course, students will have a well-rounded foundation in the arts, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and an enduring appreciation for art in all its forms.
During each year at DMA we encourage age appropriate creativity, self-expression, and an appreciation for the beauty of God's creation, while integrating Catholic values and teachings into artistic practices. Students are encouraged to explore various artistic techniques and mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art, while learning about the fundamental elements of art such as color, line, shape, texture, and form. The curriculum emphasizes the importance of creativity as a gift from God and encourages students to use their talents to glorify Him and serve others. In addition to hands-on projects, students are introduced to the rich history of religious art, learning about sacred art, symbols, and the role of art in the Church. Students also reflect on the connection between faith and art, considering how creativity can inspire prayer, devotion, and acts of charity. Through the study of both classical and contemporary artists, students are encouraged to appreciate the diversity of artistic expression and develop their own unique artistic voices. The curriculum fosters not only technical skill development but also values such as patience, perseverance, and respect for the work of others.
