The Divine Mercy Academy Early Childhood curriculum creates a nurturing, engaging, and holistic learning experience.
Faith-Centered Environment: The program immerses children in Catholic values and teachings through prayer, scripture, and the celebration of liturgical seasons, helping them understand the love of God and the foundation of Catholic life.
Age-Appropriate Religious Education: The curriculum introduces children to core Catholic concepts in ways that are engaging and understandable for their age, such as Bible stories, saints' lives, and simple prayers.
Qualified and Faith-Driven Staff: Teachers are qualified and experienced to teach early childhood education and also have the passion for sharing their Catholic faith. They serve as positive role models of kindness, patience, and integrity.
Safe and Nurturing Atmosphere: The program prioritizes emotional, physical, and spiritual safety, ensuring children feel secure and loved in an environment that fosters growth, exploration, and respect for others. DMA includes Social Emotional Learning into all aspects of the curriculum, including a specific class instructed by our School Counselor.
Holistic Development Focus: Our Early Childhood Program promotes the development of the whole child—intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually—while recognizing the unique needs and strengths of each child.
Collaborative and Supportive Community: A sense of community is fostered, not only among the children but also among staff, parents, and the wider parish. Families are encouraged to participate in the program and collaborate in their child’s faith journey.
Diverse Learning Opportunities: The program offers a variety of activities that promote learning through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences that engage the children’s curiosity and creativity. Students participate in weekly classes such as Art, Library, Spanish, Music, Physical Education/Health, and SEL with specialized Academy teachers.
Respect for Individual Dignity: In line with Catholic teachings on the inherent dignity of every person, the program promotes a culture of respect, kindness, and fairness, celebrating each child’s unique personality and gifts.
Faith Integration in Daily Life: Catholic principles are woven into everyday routines and activities—whether through showing care for the environment, learning to share and care for others, or engaging in small acts of service.
Strong Parental Involvement: At DMA, parents and guardians are key partners in their children’s faith and academic growth. We encourage and facilitate communication with parents, offer opportunities for their involvement in faith-based activities, and provide resources to support their role in faith formation at home.
These attributes at DMA create an environment where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn, setting a solid foundation for lifelong learning and development.
We guarantee that DMA is a place where you will:

Kindergarten at Divine Mercy Academy
Religion - Our kindergarten religion curriculum helps students develop an understanding that all things are created by God and that the world is a gift from Him. Students learn that Jesus teaches us to love others and that the Holy Spirit guides us in our daily lives. We celebrate Jesus, Mary, and all the Saints. Our kindergarteners participate in various service projects, fostering a spirit of kindness and generosity. We also observe the different liturgical seasons, attend Holy Mass every Friday and celebrate special feast days, including Holy Days of Obligation.
Literacy - Our comprehensive language arts program helps students develop a strong foundation in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Our daily literacy block includes phonics, phonemic awareness, spelling, high-frequency words, vocabulary, grammar, reading fluency and comprehension. In addition, we incorporate a writing workshop model, and students complete a monthly composition to develop their writing skills. We also have dedicated handwriting practice, where students learn proper letter formation, size, and stroke. This helps develop fine motor skills and reinforces correct handwriting habits to build confidence in written communication.
Math – Our math program builds a strong foundation in number sense, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. Students develop skills in counting, number recognition, basic addition and subtraction, patterns, sorting, and measurement. They also explore geometric concepts, including 2-D and 3-D shapes. Through hands-on activities, manipulatives, and interactive lessons, students develop confidence in applying math to real-world situations.
Science- Our kindergarten science curriculum fosters curiosity through hands-on exploration. Our students investigate topics such as forces and motion, weather patterns, and the basic needs of living things. We also engage students in STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) projects.
Social Studies - Our kindergarten social studies curriculum introduces students to concepts of community, citizenship, and cultural diversity. Key areas of focus include understanding rules and responsibilities, family and community, and geography and environment.
