Under the direction of Mrs. Maria Ricciardi, our Introductory Spanish courses for students in Grades Prek 3-Grade 8 are to introduce and develop basic Spanish language skills in a fun and engaging way. By the end of the course, students will be able to recognize and use common vocabulary and phrases related to everyday topics such as greetings, numbers, colors, family, and school. They will practice listening, speaking, and simple reading skills, building their confidence in using the language in basic conversations.
The course will also foster an appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures by exploring traditions, songs, and customs. Overall, students will gain a foundational understanding of the Spanish language, preparing them for future language learning opportunities.
Bio: I was raised in Florham Park and attended the school system there; however, I spent a lot of time in Madison where all my relatives lived. After my husband and I were married, we settled in Hanover Township and raised our family. I formerly taught Spanish at Bayley Ellard High School and St. Cecilia School. It is a pleasure bringing Spanish to the wonderful students at Divine Mercy Academy.
Hometown: Florham Park/Madison
I like working at the Academy because… we have the best students!
Teaching Philosophy: To help my students to be the best that they can be and to always put forth their best effort.
Fun Facts about me: I love kitty cats. I like to listen to “happy music” from the 60’s. I enjoy playing with my grandchildren.
When I’m not in the classroom you will find me… doing something in my yard or taking a walk.
Ask me about… my dog.
My Personal Motto… Always remember to be thankful.
